Pub crawling Sukhumvit at Bottom Dollar

Where we take a look at the numerous options for getting a buzz at minimal cost on early Sukhumvit road.

There are many ways of partying in Bangkok, many different types of clubs to go to, many different areas of the city and most important of all many different price levels of venues to visit.

The Sukhumvit area offers everything from a street beer bar to the Sheraton Grande Sukumvit, there is no end of choices. However, when looking for the best cheaper deals for getting going, it is still not always straight forward. None the less, we have a few ideas we thought we might share with you.

A good meeting point for any trip like this is Gullivers (Sukumvit) which offers indoor and outdoor seating, pool, internet, food and drinks and there is plenty to do while awaiting the arrival of friends. There are even numerous freelancing girls around but we will not cross that bridge here.

After an opening drink here, move though the small alley leading down to soi 7 and you stumble upon the best value cocktails around at Volksbar. You sit outdoor drinking cocktails while the music plays. The Long Island Ice tea will get you buzzed while we recommend the Summer Kiss if you are actually in it for the taste. Once the street starts to move a bit on its own, it is time to walk through the gate behind the bar and take this short cut to Sukhumvit soi 11. Here, we move a bit back up the street to the king of cheap drinks - Cheap Charlies. This small back alley bar has upgraded with wooden high tables and chairs and offers good friendly atmosphere as people sit around and have some drinks at what must be said to be reasonable prices. As the night carries on and the drinks go down, it is time to move on to the final drinks on the street bars of Sukhumvit - Suk Soi 13 (With late night bars etc.).

Here, the value improves the closer you get to Asoke and there is plenty of people watching, beers and food to keep you going all night and at the best prices of any after hours venues around. Stay drinking until the sun starts coming up and enjoy a smooth traffic-free ride home. But don't call us in the morning, you will need a rest
