This Khao San Road institution on the corner of Khao San and Samsen Road has been a meeting spot for travelers (tourists) forever. And there is plenty of reason for its popularity. First in the door, it has air conditioning which is not a mainstay at Khao San, and definitely needed for new arrivals. In the true pub interior, complete with dark wooden bar and tables, they serve cocktails, fairly cheap beer and quite good pub food. Additionally, there are pool tables, TV�s with the sports of the day and free internet available � everything a man could want. The crowd here is a mix of western travelers and a Thai clientele that is mainly (80 pct) female. It starts getting busy in the afternoon and by night, every night, it is packed and partying. The party is at its best downstairs while upstairs usually is a bit more tranquil and focused on the pool game at hand. Should Gullivers prove too crowded, one alternative would be Shamrock Bar on top of Khao San Center. There is also the option of Gazebo Club & Restaurant on Samsen which is more of a chic rooftop bar, but cool. Or you can go more Thai at the Bangkok Bar across Samsen road and behind the Temple.
