Located on the main strip of Khao San road, this club does not look as much from the outside. However, after going down the stairs and past the pool table you enter into what must be described as a disco style nightclub centred around modern a large bar. The music is loud, the lights dim and the decorations dark, thus setting the stage. However, the party here is often very good with nice mixed crowds and funky music. The drinks are fairly cheap as is the norm in this part of town, though above the Khao San average. The best value is gotten by buying a bottle of whisky with mixers which is very reasonable here.

Should you wish to move on from Lava, Khao San always has numerous options. For a more Thai style club, head to The Club. Should you alternatively be more in a bar mood, Gullivers (Khao San) should be good for you. And if a more funky bar is what you crave, try taking a trip up by Cafe Democ up at Victory monument. If you are up for a longer trip, 808 at RCA is a bigger, better Lava – with higher prices as well.
