| This large temple neighbors the Grand Palace, and is among the most interesting temples in Bangkok. It is the oldest and largest Wat in Bangkok; it has the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand and it and contains the largest reclining Buddha in the country, 46 meters long and 15 meters high with inlaid mother-of-pearls soles. The temple dates back to the Ayutthaya era and is considered to have been Thailand’s first center for public learning. Today the temple houses various architectural and artistic objects, as well as its famous massage school. Here, foot and traditional Thai massage is available, both for teaching and receiving. The remains of Rama I rest in Wat Pho. | |
