Le Normandie is an institution in Bangkok dining, and is probably the best frensh restaurant in Thailand if not in all of Asia. Set on the top of the equally famous Oriental Hotel, you access the restaurant through a private lift that takes you to this gastronomical treasure. From the restaurant, high ceiling windows offers an excellent view out over the Chao Phraya river on one side and the city of Bangkok on the other.
Connoisseurs from all over Asia flock to Le Normandie for its Belle époque setting, impeccable service, stylish elegant ambience, truly first class cuisine and wines from a truly exceptional cellar.
The a la carte menu offers exemplary seafood and meat dishes from a menu developed by consulting 3 michelin star chef Guy Martin. Rest assured the ingredients will be fresh and at their seasonal peak, while the cooking will be excellent. Fantastic mains include dishes such as Fillet of lamb, roasted in a tomato crust, is exquisite and tender, and roast pigeon Prince Rainier, coated in parsley and stuffed with foie gras in a black truffle sauce. Rest assured that whatever your choice will be, the experience will be exquisite.

Along with every other aspect of this dining experience, the wine list is impeccable with an extensive wine list that includes every French appellation.
Le Normanie boasts what is potentially the best wine cellar in Thailand with a well chosen selection of more than 200 French wines as well as another almost 200 from other regions. As with all other things at Le Normandie, the prices are top notch with dinner for two costing up to 10.000 baht.
Alternatives to what is possible the best French restaurant in Asia can be hard to come by. Still, if you are looking for French food and Le Normandie is simply full, you could give Le Beaulieu in Sukumvit soi 19 a try. A slightly more Mediterranean twist but excellent food. Another fine alternative would be D.Sens at the Dusit Thani. Another good options would be the award winning cuisine at Ma Maison.
