Set at the top of the Banyan Tree hotel in Bangkok, Bai Yun’s huge arch ceiling high windows yield sweeping panoramas of Bangkok. The archs themselves add to the décor to give this restaurant a special fee. The interior of the restaurant is bright and setup in a contemporary east/west style. This includes tall backed, chairs in front of tables set with crispy brown table cloths and china. It is an impressive restaurant with an impressibe view.
The menu at Bai Yun focuses on the Cantonese kitchen. The dishes are all well prepared and everything top quality. In addition to a la carte dinner, there is a very popupar dim sum lunch which is among the most popular in Bangkok.
If you are in the mood for wine, there is an extensive list from the Banyan Tree’s cellar. Expect two people to be able to dine for around 3.000 baht without drinks in this clearly up-market Chinese restaurant.

If you are in the mood for more of the same but different, try out Shanghai 38 on the 38th floor of the Sofitel Silom Silom, another spectacular Chinese restaurant with a view. If you are in the mood mainly for seafood, Breeze at State tower is another alternative with a view. The last member around here in the first class Chinese food with a view is Hai Tien Lo at the Pan Pacific Hotel on Rama IV Road. For a more basic alternative, Silver Palace in soi pipat, off Silom road, offers good Chinese cuisine.
