The notorious night life area of Patpong is these days more visited for the night market that spills out of Patpong into Silom road, than for the gogo bars that still line Patpong soi 1 and 2. While the bars are still in operation, it is actually these days possible to pass through the area without even noticing them due to the heavily populated market in the space between and out onto Silom road.
The market is specialized in fakes and copies, be it of DVD’s, clothes or watches. This is complemented by a minor trade in tourist-oriented handicraft and other shops selling everything imaginable. It is definitely the more intense night market of Bangkok and quite an experience to visit.

Alternative night markets include the more peaceful and organized Suan Lum Night Bazaar or the smaller but growing night market on Sukumvit road. Khao San road also has a thriving night market specializing more in tourist t-shirts and other memorabilia oriented products.
