This intimate Italian restaurtant is located short a short walk down Sukumvit soi 31. Through the door you enter a fairly small room that in additiona to a number of tables contain the pizza oven and a small buffet. The walls are covered with memorabilia from Naples as well as numerous articles and rave reviews of the place. The first thing you notice when you sit down is that this place is louder than most Bangkok Italian restaurant who are usually very subdued. It is not that it is uncomfortably loud but rather that people like when you spend time in a tratoria in Italiy, people are talking, and the sound offers a good and authentic background drop to a truly Italian experience.
While not quite a pizzeria, the pizza’s are really the stars of the menu here. They are large with thin crusts and starting at 180 baht they offer amazing value. Among the favorites is the Diavola which has spicy salami, the penna lungha with its bridge of Parma ham and rocket salad and the Carpaccio which features thin sliced beef and rocket. These and the rest are exceptionally good value and highly recommended.
But Bella Napoli has more to offer than merely the pizza. Their select few pasta dishes are excellent. Try their Spagetti Misto Mare which comes baked in a bowl covered with a thin crust. Along with the food, excellent value house wine is offered by the carafe.
For desert, their gelato and sorbet should be tried. The owner was born to a family of ice cream makers and caters to several Bangkok restaurants in addition to Bella Napoli though probably the best value is offered here.
Booking a table in advance is recommended but reservations are accepted only for Monday to Friday. Patrons on Saturday & Sunday are treated on a first-come first-serve basis.
Expect two people to be able to eat for around 1.000 baht, depending on the number of dishes. There is a small wine list available offering good value, but the house wine is equally worth a try.
