Walking down to Gullivers on Sukumvit soi 5, the first thing that greets you is the outside café-like set up, with white tables and chairs and even a fountain. You are free to settle here and have drinks and food while watching the world pass by. Moving inside the place, the café-like setting is replaced by a true pub, with wooden paneling, a large bar surrounded by bar stools, pool tables and slightly subdued lighting. It is clear you are now in a bar (though there is a slightly less hectic restaurant section off to the side for a more relaxed bite and drink).
Gullivers serve typical pub food like burgers, sandwiches and fish and chips, in addition to a few Thai favorites. The bar offers a number of different beers in addition to cocktails and whole bottles. As the evening progresses, the pool tables fill up and the place gets more crowded. Do note that there are significantly more Thai women than men who frequent this place, and not too many foreign women at all. It is however a good full-service bar offering very good value for money and catering to all your needs. For entertainment, in addition to big screens for sports and pool, there is a foosball table and free internet.
Depending on what your needs are, there are several places that can serve as an alternative to Gullivers. If you need a more subdued bar with food and drinks, close by The Huntsman Pub at the Landmark Hotel on Sukumvit Road is a good option. For another game of pool, head to New Wave in sukumvit soi 7 for a bar environment and Ball-In-Hand in soi 4 for a professional playing experience. For a cheap drink, try in Sukumvit soi 11.
