Probably the internationally best known of the Bangkok nightlife areas, Khao San Road and its surrounding streets houses Bangkok's backpackers and many budget tourists. The area is filled with venues catering to this clientele, from the many bars and clubs over street markets with virtually any goods available to food and drink and of course cheap accommodation.

The area is continuously developing and still better clubs, hotels and restaurants dot the area many though catering mainly to the budget conscious. This is features numerous restaurants serving a mix of Thai and general international dishes, from banana pancakes to fish n' chips, places like Khao San Center has it all. While the better specialized restaurants are coming in, lile e.g. an outlet of Italian chain Scoozi, it is the value for money, the atmosphere and people watching that remains the main attractions of the dining scene here.

The area is also home to a number of distinctly Thai entertainment venues like Bangkok Bar, with subdued lighting, very loud music and young Thai's parting the night away. They come to have a look at this exotic melting pot of foreigners and their strange behavior before heading to the Thai oriented club that also fill the landscape to dance and drink and make merry. Khao San Road in all offers an unequalled mixture of people and cultures, street side shopping and side street bars, all generally experienced on backpacker level.
